Animal  Osteopathy

Animal osteopathy is becoming a very popular service among animal trainers and owners and is now a fast growing profession. Animal osteopathy is a gentle and effective form of therapy that can benefit a wide range of animals, including dogs, cats, horses, and other domestic and farm animals.  Our lovely osteopath Grace is our animal osteopath at Nature’s Health Hub.

Equines and canines that perform a sport or rigorous physical exercise, such as racehorses, show jumping horses and ponies, and working dogs, can benefit a huge amount from a visit by an animal osteopath. Many performance horses and dogs are also helped prepare for racing or competition.

Through the use of specific techniques developed in human osteopathy, animal osteopathic treatment addresses the structural and physical needs of an animal to relieve pain, improve movement and prevent injury.

Unlike humans, animals cannot tell us about their pain. Osteopathic reasoning is largely based on careful observation and manual examination. For example, a domestic pet such as a dog or cat will communicate their discomfort or pain by displaying changes in personality, behaviour, or performance such as: difficulty in stretching hind legs when jumping, weight shifting or non-bearing, inability to coordinate/avoiding obstacles .The osteopathic treatment we can provide at our practice intends to realign any imbalances, reduce tension, strain patterns and help to restore normal function enabling your animal to be able to  move pain free and to the best of their ability.

We can accommodate small animals such as dogs and cats etc to come in for appointments at our NHH practice but of course for any larger animals this would have to be a call out visit. Please specify when getting in touch with us if you are in need of a home visit.
